“My Life” Youth Roundtables

My Life Youth RoundtablesThe “My Life” Roundtables series is designed to address the needs of high school girls in their evolution into competent and active members of their communities in the following ways:

  • Developing positive attitudes and relationships
  • Meet on a weekly basis to discuss issues that affect them
  • Develop skills and attitudes needed to become leaders among their peers and in their communities.
  • To promote self respect, self pride and self dignity while promoting a shared understanding regarding issues that they can relate to and apply to everyday life.
  • Keep teens connected, engaged and nurtured during the pivotal ages of 15-17
  • Keep them on track, in school, and developing to their best potential.

In the program, high school girls between the ages of 15-18 will participate in a series of weekly roundtables to discuss life issues and things that are important to them. There will be a series of cultural, educational and leadership activities throughout the year. We value this unique opportunity to dialogue with selected high school students on issues that affect and are important to them. There is no doubt that this gives them an opportunity to voice their opinions, ask questions, broaden their knowledge and perspective, as we introduce them to our law enforcement partners (DEA, State Police, etc.) and the many job different opportunities. As we get to know one another and build friendships, the young girls have an opportunity to share their life experiences as well as the chance to learn from someone they can relate to about life, how to handle difficult situations and how to prepare for their future goals. Along the way, girls learn how to build a resume, how to balance a checkbook and how to open a bank account.
